Biostimulator Treatment Overview

As we age, collagen and elastin production naturally decline, leading to wrinkles, volume loss, and skin laxity. Biostimulators, such as Radiesse® and Sculptra®, are advanced injectable treatments that trigger the body’s natural collagen production, restoring volume and improving skin texture over time.

Unlike traditional dermal fillers that provide instant but temporary results, biostimulators work beneath the skin to gradually restore structure, firmness, and elasticity, making them an ideal choice for long-lasting facial rejuvenation. Radiesse® is a calcium-based biostimulator that provides immediate volumization while stimulating long-term collagen production.

It is often used to enhance cheek structure, improve jawline definition, and restore volume to aging hands. Sculptra® is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) biostimulator that gradually restores volume and thickens the skin by encouraging deep collagen renewal. It is commonly used to address hollow areas, nasolabial folds, and overall skin laxity for a natural and youthful appearance.

If you’re looking for a non-surgical, long-lasting solution for volume loss and skin rejuvenation, Radiesse® and Sculptra® offer a powerful alternative to traditional fillers, delivering results that continue to improve for months after treatment.

What To Expect

✔ Personalized Consultation – Our aesthetic experts will evaluate your facial structure, volume loss, and overall skin health to determine whether Radiesse® or Sculptra® is best suited for your goals.

✔ Precise Injection Process – The biostimulator is strategically injected into target areas using fine needles or cannulas. While Radiesse® provides instant volume, Sculptra® gradually builds collagen over time, with results developing over several weeks.

✔ Post-Treatment Effects – You may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising, which typically subsides within a few days. While some immediate improvement may be visible, full results appear as collagen rebuilds over the next few months.

How To Prepare

✔ Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil) for 48 hours prior to reduce bruising.

✔ Stay hydrated to enhance collagen stimulation and overall skin health.

✔ Minimize sun exposure before treatment, as excessive UV exposure can cause skin sensitivity.

✔ Discuss any allergies, medical conditions, or previous injectable treatments with your provider to ensure the best outcome.

Aftercare

✔ Gently massage the treated areas (for Sculptra®) as instructed by your provider to ensure even collagen stimulation.

✔ Avoid excessive facial movement or pressure on the treated areas for 24 hours.

✔ Apply cold compresses if mild swelling or bruising occurs.

✔ Stay upright for at least 4 hours post-treatment to allow the biostimulator to settle properly.

✔ Limit exercise, excessive heat, and saunas for 48 hours to prevent unnecessary inflammation.

✔ Hydration is key—drink plenty of water to support collagen production and maintain long-term skin health.

Popular Biostimulator Treatment Areas

Cheek & Mid-Face Volume Restoration

Over time, cheeks can become hollow and lose definition. Biostimulators restore lost volume and improve natural contours, giving the face a lifted, youthful appearance.

Jawline & Chin Contouring

A well-defined jawline is a hallmark of a youthful face. Biostimulators enhance structure, reduce sagging, and improve definition for a sculpted and contoured look.

Nasolabial Folds & Smile Lines

Deep laugh lines can make the face appear aged. Radiesse® and Sculptra® work to smooth and soften these creases, providing a more refreshed look.

Temple & Hollowing Correction

Aging often leads to volume loss in the temples, making the face appear gaunt. Biostimulators restore lost fullness, balancing facial proportions.

Hand Rejuvenation

Hands often show signs of aging first, with thin, crepey skin and visible veins. Radiesse® is an excellent solution to plump and smooth hand contours for a more youthful appearance.

FAQ's

Have questions? We have the answers! Explore our FAQ section to find everything you need to know.

How long do biostimulators last?

The results of Radiesse® typically last 12-18 months, while Sculptra® can last up to 2 years or more. Since these treatments stimulate natural collagen production, the effects continue improving for months after treatment.

Are biostimulators safe?

Yes. Both Radiesse® and Sculptra® have been extensively studied and are FDA-approved for cosmetic use. They are biocompatible, meaning the body naturally absorbs them over time. Side effects are minimal, with mild swelling or bruising being the most common.

How do biostimulators compare to traditional fillers?

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that provide instant volume, biostimulators gradually improve skin structure by stimulating collagen. They enhance long-term skin quality, making them an ideal choice for those looking for natural, longer-lasting results.

Do biostimulators require multiple sessions?

For optimal results, Sculptra® is usually performed in a series of 2-3 sessions, spaced about 4-6 weeks apart, while Radiesse® often delivers noticeable improvement in a single session.

Can I combine biostimulators with other treatments?

Absolutely! Many patients choose to combine biostimulators with Botox®, hyaluronic acid fillers, microneedling, or laser treatments for a comprehensive anti-aging approach. Your provider will recommend the best combination for your goals.

How soon will I see results?

With Radiesse®, you’ll notice immediate volume restoration, while Sculptra® gradually builds collagen over several weeks, with full results appearing 3-6 months post-treatment.
