Safe, Comfortable and Reliable Treatments

HOW DOES BOTOX® WORK?

With time, we all develop habitual facial expressions that form lines and wrinkles in our skin. These actions are considered minor when thought of as a onetime gesture because skin, especially when young, is elastic in nature. However, like water flowing through a canyon, over time these gestures cause expressions to become wrinkles, and the elasticity to fade, resulting in permanent features of the face that we associate with advancing age.

The medication works by blocking a chemical release between the peripheral nerves and the affected muscles. When the muscles can no longer contract, the skin overlying the muscles become flat and the lines in the face diminish.

Over time, the treated muscles can “learn” not to make the facial expression that causes the wrinkle, resulting in long-lasting effect.

IS BOTOX® SAFE?

It is safe. BOTOX® is a form of purified protein that has been used around the world for over 20 years. Initially, it was commercially used to treat certain medical conditions such as muscular problems involving the eyes, larynx and legs. It was later discovered that, when used in small amounts, BOTOX® has an excellent effect on facial expression. It is now used successfully to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and deep forehead lines. BOTOX® has been approved in Canada for cosmetic use since 2001.

A registered nurse will go over everything with you to ensure that your treatment is right for you. Should you have concerns, they are available for consultation afterwards either in person, by phone or through email.

HOW LONG DOES BOTOX LAST?
Generally the first BOTOX® treatment lasts between 3 to 4 months, at which time another injection is done. After several treatments, the effects of BOTOX® may begin to last longer.

BOTOX® FOR EXCESSIVE SWEATING

Excessive sweating can be treated! Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that is highly treatable. In fact, getting help is easy. Check your health coverage — you may already be covered for treatment. Many employers offer extended health benefits through their insurance plans.

CHRONIC MIGRAINE: THE DIFFERENCE
Chronic Migraine is different from episodic migraine. With Chronic Migraine:

You have 15 or more headache days per month (at least 8 associated with migraine)

Headaches last longer, pain is often more severe

Experts recommend treating Chronic Migraine with preventive medication—medicine that is used before a headache or migraine even starts.

Preventive medication is used before a headache or migraine even starts

Preventive medication is different from cute treatments, which are taken once a headache or migraine has already started

BOTOX® is a preventive treatment for Chronic Migraine

BOTOX® prevents headaches and migraines before they even start—preventing on average 8 to 9 headache days and migraine/probable migraine days a month (vs 6 to 7 for placebo)

BOTOX® is the #1 prescribed branded Chronic Migraine treatment*

2 million BOTOX® treatments have been given to over 500,000 people with Chronic Migraine since FDA approval in 2010
